[Reference] Fuel filter

This is for documentary purposes only. Don't do this yourself - get a qualified mechanic to do it. This involves fuel which is highly combustible. Again, get qualified mechanic.

Since Aussie Dave passed away, the pictures he took have more or less disappeared from the net. This is an attempt to document that process again. Thanks to motocopter from the zggtr.org forum for investigating on an alternative replacement fileter than can be used.

The tank/fuel pump removal is documented in the Kawasaki manual. Refer to the manual for detail instructions.

A little as possible fuel needs to remain in the tank.

Not a 'service' per se.  Quite a few vehicles these days have the filter with the pump in the tank.  Pretty sure all my Toyotas have that and well as my daughter's Nissan Quest.  If the Kwak dealer has to replace the filter it's new pump time.  However, I think cleaning it out and replacing the filter every 50k miles wouldn't be a bad idea.

Its probably best to block the pipes from the tank as fuel could leak when manipulating the tank (all depends on how much of the fuel is drained from the tank)

This is just the pump itself.....for $50 bucks....new!  You would have to disassemble the existing pump structure but you have a new pump if you need it.  Unfortunately you can't buy the O-ring (670E5075) or the filter (49019-0013) with it and their cart system for buying it appears to be broken at the moment...yet another option.

We don't see inoperative fuel pumps, we do see clogged fuel filters..

read the ad closely, says it comes WITH a strainer (filter), and if you do the "view larger photo" thing, and pic the numbers at the bottom (1, 2, or 3) it shows the filter also...
just saying....
