M10 engine mount bolt?
« on: April 14, 2017, 10:34:44 AM »
For the upper engine mounting bolts, can anyone tell me if the thread pitch is m10x1.25, or m10x1.5?

Sooooooo......
What thread pitch.....? Like he asked.....?
Cause he wants to buy a bolt from  the store.....
 ::)

If you have a bolt, simply measure the distance between 10 crests... it'll either be 12.5 mm or 15 mm.. or take the bolt in to the store.. they have pitch gages there, usually... or appropriate nuts to try as a gage....

Just saying in general, most bolts on bikes are the coarse pitch..

Thanks guys - after I posted this I looked at the part online to verify it was m10, then went to the store to verify that it is 1.25 pitch. I had to tap and helicoil the mounting hole on the engine as the threads just slid right out when I went to tighten it back up this last time. I was a little shocked, but in any case was able to get a helicoil in there and it's nice and snug with the original bolt.

Thanks again for the responses

You may want to get a set of thread pitch gauges for both metric and SAE.  Also gives the bolt sizes.  Can't tell you how many times I've used it.

Srech77,

How difficult was it to helicoil this?   I don't like the way the threads feel on my left front engine mount so this may be in my future.

Thanks,

Vinnie
