You don't appear to be faster to me but I'm considered slow by my wife's standards.  How did your speed test go?

I somehow managed to speak with a knowledgeable tech rep from Comcast and the set-up of the new modem was painless. I tested the speed before and after from two different sites, running 5 tests at each site. The average download speed before was ~34 Mbps and ~6.3 Mbps up. The average download speed with the new modem is ~36 Mbps and ~6.2 Mbps up.

That's fast baby!

I bought this modem from Amazon and paid $85, so it'll take me a year to pay for it by not having to pay the $7 to Comcast.

The Motorola SURFboard SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem gets the Conrad seal of approval.

Doesn't seem that much different to me based on before and after unless I'm reading it wrong.

Nope, there's not that much difference, if any really. But I won't be paying Comcast for their modem any longer.

Check your speed here and tell me what you get.

Nope, those are all good speeds.

Jim, I know that you use Comcast right? Did you see your bill this month? They jacked the price up to $7 for their modem rental.

Time to go get some work done around this place.

I don't use Comcast.  I use MetroCast.  My daughter had Comcast and dumped it for Verizon Fios.  She couldn't stand the outages where she lives.  I have a Motorola modem (can't remember the model) and it's not rented either.  It's MetroCast's modem but somehow they forgot they owned it.   Their loss is my gain.  I am having issues with it disconnecting at times so I have bought another but just haven't had time to get it installed.

I'm in to the service pack installations now.  That will take the rest of the day...  sigh

I'm thinking martini tonight.  I had wine last night.  I try to mix it up a bit but not at the same time.  Bad juju to do that.

I learned once that you shouldn't drink red wine, white wine, beer and whiskey all within a 5 hour period unless you want to feel bad the next morning. I got to say though, the whiskey I drank was very good and real smooth, Forty Creek, ever hear of it? Its Canadian. Got it cheap at the border.
