Billet threaded gas caps?
« on: March 27, 2012, 05:24:59 AM »
Does anyone make a threaded gas cap for the Connie 14? I see some of the more popular sport bikes have them. It would be nice to not have to pull a key out every time for a fill up.

You might try searching the web for a ZX-14 gas cap.  It should fit.  I don't think there's any difference in the cap.  You didn't specify model but the 08 cap part number is different from the 09/10/+ number.  There's a difference I didn't know about.  There may also be a difference in US vs CA models as well.  Didn't look that up.  However, if you have an 09/10 C14 the cap from a ZX14 of the same years is the same.  You'll have more choices to look at if you go the ZX14.  Many of their parts are interchangeable.

One way to look these parts up is through sites like www.ronayers.com .

I see your point, but

1) Locked filler protects from gas tampering.
2) No stealing $4+/gal gas!
3) Wouldn't a threaded cap stick up high and look kinda strange?

I had a spare key cut by a locksmith for use with the bags and the gas filler.  I never remove the stovekey (nor fiddle with the fob pseudo key).

Actually, no.  The ones I saw on the web for the ZX14 looked very nice and some of them had quarter turn race caps.  They looked flush mount to me.

Ah, it must be a whole assembly of some sort and not just a cap like I think of on a car.  Sorry, I haven't actually seen one before.

It is a 2010.

You are right the 2010 ZX-14 is the same part number. I'm going to order one. I hate removing the key just to fill up. I've never had issues with anyone trying to steal gas from my vehicles over the years so, I'll take a chance.

Do a Google search on these words 'billet gas cap zx-14'.  I had a whole bunch of hits.

It bolted right up and seems to work fine. I road for about 20 miles after installing it. Very simple install. Open the existing gas cap with the key remove the one forward screw and the back two screws. Install the ZX-14 billet cap with the existing 3 screws removed and that's it.

Im thinking one like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-NINJA-ZX14R-650R-ZX6R-ZX636R-ZX6RR-ZX9R-ZX10R-CNC-Keyless-Gas-Fuel-Cap-/220882786483?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336da3d8b3&vxp=mtr

I came close to that one but, it did not list my year model for the ZX-14 cross reference. Not sure if the part number is the same.
