Loving the PR3s
« on: June 17, 2012, 11:42:34 AM »
I am just getting to 17,000 miles on my front PR3. The rear was replaced twice under Zurich Road Hazard Insurance. I just ordered a new tire through Murph's. They aren't as cheap when you buy one tire from there, but I really don't need a rear tire for 15,000 miles or so. lol. I should be able to get the new front on next weekend. I am glad they last as long as the PR2s. I didn't think they would because of all the slots it the tires. Very impressed with them and their grip. Should be OEM on such a great bike.

All depends on riding style.  Smooth and steady without excessive speeding can net this kind of milage.  I typically get 12 on the front and 6 in the rear and I speed excessively.  I have done much worse.  I once got only 3000 on a rear.  I think it had something to do with 130 mph+ for forty miles on a hot day.  I had never seen a tire blister before.  I am impressed that the PR3s are this good.  I also would have thought the siping would greatly reduce the miles.
Keep it simple - if no one has shot at me or tried to blow me up it is a good day.

I run the hellout of them 100 mph plus everyday. I do slow to 80mph when slipping by hiding spots. I do a tonof highway riding. This is the last week I'll get out of them.

There are twisties all around me. I just don't do much riding other than commuting
I live in Maine and never stored my bike last winter. Just keep it going. I got caught in the snow atleast 3 times this year.

Just got back from a trip, and my rear PR3 is shot at 8,000.  Front still looks good.  Don't know if I will get 17,000 miles out of the front, but for now will replace the back and keep the front.  Excellent tires.
