Cracked coil casing
« on: August 18, 2012, 07:12:53 AM »
OK,
I'm doing a valve adjust, and there it is, a cracked coil casing. about 2" long ways and then some down the side. Still works and is not shorting. Years ago I used a 2 part epoxy on some Wing coils for the same reason, they are still on the bike and working fine.
So the $5 question is this, being a Connie, can I do the same with this coil?
Your input is required, as its 72 degrees and sunny here in Ohio this morning.
Thanks all, and ride safe out there.
Greg

I know it is a case to basically keep moisture out, so the epoxy went on, and it sealed it all up, nice and tight.
T, I will be doinf your stick coils over the winter break, so get som built.
Thanks for the input,
RSA, greg

Forgive the bust-in on this thread, but Tony, could you please point me at a source for those aux light brackets? I use the Hella FF50's too, and like your mounting better than mine. Actually, I want to add a couple of their fog beam FF-50's too, so could you advise on a source for a low-mount mounting bracket (brake caliper, maybe?) for those.

Thanks.
Julian.

Talk to Snarf, he makes them along with block off plates.  Having a set of each, I can attest to their top notch quality!

If you've done it before you know the drill, but here's how the V-Dubbers do it.

Also, may want to 'bake' it to drive out any moisture in it before sealing it up.  Lowest temp available, while she's out of town ;)
